La Loma and Chela Financial USA, Inc. working together to provide affordable student loans to our members. Through the EdAssist® program, La Loma can help you reach your educational goals simply and conveniently.

We now offer our members a full line of affordable student loans, including Federal Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized) and Federal Parent Loans for students (PLUS). Recent changes in federal guidelines make it easier for students in all income levels to qualify for loans.

Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans

This loan is for students who exhibit "financial need," as determined by your school's financial aid office. The interest rate is variable, adjusted annually, but never more than 8.25% for new borrowers. Loan interest is paid by the federal government while you're in school.

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loans

The unsubsidized loan is designed for students who don't qualify for, or who need money in addition to, the subsidized loan. While the borrower is responsible for all interest payments, deferral (postponement of payments) may be available while the student is enrolled in school.

Federal Parent Loan for Students (PLUS)

This loan with its low interest rate (variable, not to exceed 9%), is available to parents of dependent undergraduate students. Parents may borrow up to the full cost of education, minus the amount of financial aid received.

EdAssist offers a special program called R & R, Rates for the ReliableSM that can save you money. Federal Stafford Loan borrowers who make their first 48 payments on time receive a full 2% interest rate reduction for the remaining term of the loan.

EdAssist also allows you to consolidate your loans, combining different types of federal student loans to simplify repayment. Your student loan is serviced in one place for its entire term, eliminating confusion and hassles.
